Job Opening: Junior Web Developer

The ideal candidate

Whether it was for your Mums knitting club or a fan site for your favourite footy team, you’ll need at 2+ years experience making websites. They don’t have to be flash at the beginning or even making you any money, but by now you know WordPress well and can work with a web server without breaking anything.

Whats in the job?

You’ll be spending a few days a week here so it better be a job for you right? You’ll help to turn online stores from ideas and finished designs into a beautiful working WordPress site with your mad WordPress skills. Some days you’ll be on the Adobe Tools with a touch of basic design but most of the time, it’s in the thick of it configuring plugins and site layouts.

Working as part of a small team, you’ll be responsible for content upload and you’ll get your hands dirty in CSS. As time goes on you’ll work closely with Mike to learn how eCommerce sites are built and start to take charge of the coding of online stores.

You’ll need an open mind to learning. WordPress templates. HTML5. Javascript. PHP. Shopify. You might not know it yet but the future might call for it and you won’t be afraid to learn it.

We’re growing quickly

That means that although it’s a few day a week job now, this is a role for someone who’s looking to finish their studies, learn a hell of a lot through their work and stay on to really make their mark making awesome online stores.

The ideal candidate wants to be better, is curious and inquisitive and doesn’t mind saying “I don’t know”. You’ll be surrounded by a growing team figuring out and shaping the fast-moving world of online retail. You’ll work with some cool brands, make some kick-arse sites and most of all be in an environment that will make you better.

The ins and outs

Our office is on St Georges Rd in Fitzroy North, a minutes walk from tram stops and a stones throw away from the shops and bars of Brunswick Street.

We’ve got a health food bar downstairs with staff rates so you’ll never go hungry or broke.

It’s a 2-day per week position to get started. If things work out and the timing is convenient for you, it could turn into a full time position. Working around your web development studies is possible, as is a little work from home on occasion.

Renumeration: Negotiable according to experience
Start date: Mid-August
